Visit UsMany families call to add their name to our waitlist, but they may have already found another daycare closer to home, school, or work. Sometimes, families don’t update us if they’ve accepted a spot elsewhere or if their contact information has changed. This means that while there may be 45 families on the list, many of them may no longer need the spot. We encourage you to contact us if you have specific timing needs, as the number on the list is less relevant than your actual position for a spot.
Due to the length of our waitlists across all age groups, we will only contact you when a spot becomes available or when we update the list. We understand waiting can be frustrating, but we want to ensure we’re offering you a spot that fits your needs when it becomes available.
We recommend contacting us as soon as you know you will need daycare services, but we suggest scheduling a tour closer to your child's anticipated start date—ideally when your child is about 4-6 months away from starting. Bringing your child along to the tour is ideal as it helps you assess the space, interact with staff, and ensure that our environment is the right fit for them.
For the health and safety of all our children, we ask that children who have a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea remain at home until they have been symptom-free for at least 24 hours. If we contact you during the day about your sick child, please arrange to pick them up as soon as possible so they can rest at home with you.
At Sunshine Kids, our curriculum is inspired by the principles outlined in How Does Learning Happen?—a framework for early childhood education in Ontario. This approach emphasizes the importance of building relationships and supporting each child’s growth across all developmental areas, including emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development.
We also encourage learning through exploration, where children’s natural curiosity leads their journey. Our educators are trained to observe each child's progress and adapt learning experiences that are meaningful and engaging. By fostering an environment that values each child’s voice and interests, we create a dynamic, individualized curriculum that supports their ongoing development and prepares them for future learning.

At Sunshine Kids, we prioritize in-person communication at drop-off and pick-up times to stay connected with parents and caregivers. In addition, we use the HiMama app to share daily updates, including photos, videos, and a record of your child’s activities. This allows parents to stay informed throughout the day and to stay involved in their child’s learning and growth. Families can also reach out via email or our parent portal for any updates or questions, and we host events throughout the year to strengthen the partnership between our daycare and families.
